The draws for the men’s and women’s qualifications for the 2008/09 EHF Champions League season will be carried out on 1 July in Vienna.

EHF Champions League: Qualifications Draw

The draws for the men’s and women’s qualifications for the 2008/09 EHF Champions League season will be carried out on Tuesday, 1 July 2008, at 11.00hrs in the EHF Headquarters, Vienna.

Men’s EHF Champions League

The Qualification knock-out round of the men’s competition involves 16 clubs. The teams ranked 25-28 and 37-40 according to the official line-up will be drawn to play against each other. The teams ranked 29-32 and 33-36 will also meet each other.

The winner of the knock out matches (played on 6/7 and 13/14 September 2008) will join the teams of the Men’s EHF Champions League in the Group Phase.

Women’s EHF Champions League

Qualification Tournament 1

The Qualification Tournament 1 will involve eight teams. These will be drawn into two groups of four (played on 5-7 September 2008).

The eight teams have been seeded in four pots (see official line-up). Teams coming from the same pot will avoid each other in the group.

Qualification Tournament 2

The first two ranked teams then will join the teams of Qualification Tournament 2 and play on 3-5 October 2008 for the places in the 2008/09 Women’s EHF Champions League Group Phase.

The 16 teams taking part in Qualification Tournament 2 will be divided into four pots (see official line-up). One team of each pot will go into the four groups.

Following the draw of the teams, the organisational rights of the Qualification Tournaments will also be decided by draw.

EHF Champions League Group Phase Draw

The 2008/2009 Men’s and Women’s Champions League Group Phase draw will take place during the course of the 2008 Women’s 18 European Open and the Partille Cup, the world’s largest youth handball tournament.

The official draw event will be carried out on 4 July 2008 at 18:30 hrs in the Scandinavium Arena of Gothenburg, Sweden.
