Portland San Antonio has made has undergone a miniature revolution just in time for the upcoming 2008/09 EHF Champions League season. Ex-international player Chechu Villaldea will be the new coach, Ivano Balic has transferred to Zagreb and Zupo Equisoain is leaving 20 years after joining the Spanish club. And in addition to all this, PSA has signed five players to reinforce the roster.

Chechu Villaldea has played for the historic Teka Cantabria, Portland and the Spanish national team. Although he is not an experienced coach in the Asobal League, he was the trainer of the Spanish junior team. He will replace Javier Cabanas who was not so lucky when he was at the helm of Portland last season.

The most complicated transfer of the summer was closed only some weeks ago. Ivano Balic will play next EHF Champions League edition for Zagreb. The Croatian playmaker made the request and after some months of negotiations both clubs sealed the agreement. Zagreb and Portland prefer not to publish the conditions of the transfer.

Danjel Saric, Claus Jakobsen, Ivan Nikcevic, Santiago Urdiales and Josep Masachs complete the 2008/09 roster filling the spaces caused by the departure of Ivano Balic, Valter Matosevic, David Carvajal, Javier Ortigosa and Ricardo Andorinho. Saric will share the goal with Svensson, Jakobsen will take the place of Balic in the offensive game and Masachs, Urdiales and Nikcevic will reinforce the wingers.

The structure of Spanish club has undergone significant change and the most noticeable is the departure of Zupo Equisoian. The Spanish coach left Portland after 20 years to take on the direction of the Italian Federation.
