Buducnost far from top form

Buducnost T-Mobile are preparing for two major tasks. They will take part in the Champions League as usual and they will also play in a regional league.

The champions of Montenegro stepped on court for the first time this preseason in Zaporozhye (Ukraine) at the “Dniepr Cup”. Buducnost finished last with only one victory and four defeats.

Buducnost lost the first game against the Polish SPR Lublin by 31:32, the second round against Turkish Milli Piyango by 36:31 and the third round against the hosts Motor Sich by 35:31. On day 4 Buducnost lost against Dinamo too (Russia) by 24:31. Finally, on the very last day of the tournament, Buducnost T-Mobile won against Rostov-Don (Russia) by 32:26. Motor won the tournament.

It was obvious that the team of new coach Gyula Zsiga was not yet in top form, which was not a surprise knowing that the matches in Ukraine were practically the first preparation matches after those with the Serbian Champion Naisa. In all five matches Buducnost played a very good first half, but they could only concentrate until the end in the last game.

“Although we lost four matches, I must say that the tournament in the Ukraine was important for us. All teams were almost at the same level, but the others were physically in better form. Because of that we couldn’t finished the tournament with better results, but that was not our main objective. Every player had the chance to play and we had the opportunity to see who we can count on.

“In the Ukraine we conceded too many goals and that is worrying. We must work more to improve our defence, but we need more time with new players in the team, Liudmila Mochalina and Gabriella Kindl,” said Dragan Adzic, assistant coach of Buducnost T-Mobile, after the tournament in Zaporozhye.

Buducnost T-Mobile were missing some injured players, such as Tihana Ambros, Andjela Dragutinovic and Biljana Pavicevic. The best scorer of Buducnost was left back Marija Jovanovic with 36 goals.

“In the last match we managed to play well both in the first and in the second half. That’s normal because the more games we play, the more chance we have to improve our game. It was obvious that in the Ukraine we were behind our rivals in preparation and I expect that matches we will reach our real potential in coming days,” said Marija Jovanovic.

After the tournament Buducnost travelled to Croatia to play the tournament with Podravka, Krim Mercator and FKC from Denmark. The tournament starts on Friday.
