Barça and Nantes look to Toulouse for injury cover
Both Barça Lassa and HBC Nantes have made moves to cover for players injured at January’s World Championship and found their solution at the same source.
EHF Player of December Casper Mortensen featured in the final as Denmark claimed the title on home court, but it was later revealed that his knee injury was worse than feared and his season is over.
Barcelona moved swiftly and secured a loan deal for Nemanja Ilic to join from French club Fenix Toulouse. The Serbian left wing impressed last month on the world stage and will now have an opportunity to play in Europe’s top flight for the first time since he played with RK Partizan in 2012/13.
Nantes’ Cyril Dumoulin also featured in the final day of the World Championship, before an ACL rupture in the bronze medal match consigned the French goalkeeper to a premature end of his season.
Last season’s finalists also dipped into Toulouse’s well for a solution and brought in goalkeeper Kévin Bonnefoi. The 27-year-old is expected to make his VELUX EHF Champions League bow against PSG on Thursday evening.
Elsewhere, HC PPD Zagreb signed 21-year-old Slovenian Aleks Vlah from Koper, Plock brought in experienced Spanish left back Ignaciop Moya and Veszprém have registered young Hungarian duo Kristof Laszlo Palasics and Bence Szücs.
